Ten Month Update

Motherhood

Things are starting to get slightly more surreal now. Like, how am I already planning my baby’s first birthday?! I mean, who am I trying to kid… I’ve been planning it for months BUT STILL! Ten whole months with my little Amelie, and I couldn’t be more proud!

Amelie’s Likes

Singing and dancing. Amelie loves a good wiggle along to us singing the Word Party theme tune!

– Waving at people. I honestly can’t take this baby anywhere without her flirting with a random man – waving and then blushing as they wave back. I don’t know where she gets it from.

– In The Night Garden. I thought we’d never get Amelie to watch anything other than Word Party. She wasn’t a fan of Peppa, but Iggle Piggle is a big hit!

– Berries. Amelie absolutely loves strawberries and blueberries. She’d have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner if she could (she kinda does anyway).

Current Feeding and Bedtime Routine

For the 1848263th time – is there such thing as routine? Every time that I hear another mama talking about their baby going down at 7pm after a daily bath and bedtime read, I feel a huge lump in my throat when I remember that Amelie is currently going down around 8:30pm after completing mission bedtime meltdown. She sleeps really well but one of my mummy friends warned me about the 4-5pm danger nap, and I just can’t help myself!

In terms of feeding, Amelie generally eats really well. She’s been loving yoghurt and berries for breakfast, a sandwich and some Pom Bears for lunch followed by some more fruit, and she’s still sharing our dinner with us when possible. Amelie is having around 4-5oz of formula milk three to four times a day. Generally, she has a bottle in the morning and at night and then one sometime throughout the day.

What I’ve Learnt Since Last Month

Whenever I write this part of my updates, dozens of emotional from the heart things spring into mind. And then I remind myself that I need to get a grip. Since last month, I’ve learnt that formula milk is EXPENSIVE. I mean, I’ve always known that it’s expensive but jeez. We’ve been trying to budget this month, and I think I spend more of formula milk in a month than I do on an entire week’s shop. Counting down the days until I can buy cow’s milk (bad mum alert!)
